1. In-Person Baptism Celebration is held this Sunday, June 7th, 2020, at 2:30PM on the Front Lawn of Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church.

  • Because of the brevity of this particular service, we will not set-up chairs, but you are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

  • Please practice social distancing. Per guidance from KY Healthy at work – if you are not able to practice social distancing, we highly encourage the use of masks.

  • If symptoms arise, please work to stay home to limit the spread of the virus.

  • Refrain from handshaking or hugs; friendly elbows are welcome.

  • If you consider yourself in a risk category, please use your best judgment with regard to attending or not.

  • We are happy to announce that New Jerusalem will join us and will be baptizing an additional 4 people on Sunday, totaling 8 people being baptized!

2. Virtual Members Meeting is held this Sunday, June 7th, 2020 at 4:00PM on Zoom, an online meeting software. For security purposes, we ask that you personally request access to the zoom link by emailing: hunsingerlane@gmail.com.

3. In light of the present social unrest, Family Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, at 8:00PM on Zoom. Please expect more details to follow on Monday!

May 17, 2020

When we met with Deacons, Elders and Life Group Leaders on the 12th to discuss resuming worship in person, we stressed that our direction could change based upon revisions to restrictions from governing authorities.  Revised guidelines were issued last week effective May 20 and after reviewing the related restrictions we will not plan to begin meeting together on May 31 and instead will await updated instructions so that we might keep you safe and worship our Lord appropriately.

May 8, 2020

In light of the governor’s recent announcement that houses of worship may begin meeting on 5/20 while following public health guidance, we wanted to implement the first phase in our return to worshipping together.

Foremost, as elders and leaders of the church, we know that we must be sensitive to people’s needs while understanding the gamut of perceptions and beliefs about this situation. At the same time we want to abide by and comply with state and local governmental direction as Scripture tells us to be found in favor of all men. Our unity is extremely valuable and we thank God for it and seek to maintain our it as a witness to God’s faithfulness and mercy.

The following are measures that will be newly instituted from the week of May 31, 2020:

  • In-person Sunday Worship Services will resume with a soft open date of May 31, 2020. We want to move forward with caution as we may receive additional information from public health service which could cause us to revise this target date.

  • We will continue to present these services virtually through HLBC.net, YouTube, and FaceBook for 5/31 and thereafter.

  • Although our hearts long for a full coming together, we expect that some families will choose to continue to attend virtually.

  • At-risk adults (defined as those older than 65, and those with compromised health) will be asked to not return to meeting in-person until June. We plan to take additional measures to support at-risk adults in the future.

  • The width of two chairs is approximately 6 ft; please be sure to sit to maintain social distancing as appropriate.

  • We will ask that those attending abide by the recommendation of wearing CDCs recommended face mask.

  • Children who do attend, will be with their parents in worship. We plan to hold children’s activities available in the service as we will not ask children to gather together.

  • We hope to form a special hospitality team to help with sanitation.  The facility will remain closed and off limits with the exception of the Welcome Center, the Welcome Center hallway restrooms and the Worship Center.  Restrooms will be restricted to one-person usage at a time.

  • We plan to communicate with New Jerusalem about our plans to ensure that our unity is strengthened and lifted to be in one spirit.

The following are measures that we will continue from the week of May 31, 2020:

  • Life groups, and Student Ministries will continue to meet virtually by Zoom. We are considering Student’s Journey worship resume in August as it would under a normal school calendar.

  • Children’s ministry will also only meet virtually via Zoom possibly until childcare facilities are able to reopen.

Again, we understand that these measures can be frustrating, but we encourage you to remember the gospel which desperately calls each of us for one another. Christ himself willingly went and bore the penalty of our sins for us. Paul encourages us in Philippians 2:3 to “do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility [to] count others more significant than [our]selves.”

By God’s grace, we will overcome this pandemic through the Spirit who unites us in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

With utmost warmth and love,
Your elders

Additionally, in order to best prepare for a proper response to the current situation, the Elders have decided to institute the HLBC Mission Team, led by Gregg McMullen, to formally serve as the Church's COVID-19 response and support team. To that end, the Mission Team will start by distributing a survey in order gain a deeper understanding of the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our members. This information will help us plan accordingly for the current and future needs of all our members. Would you now please work to complete a short survey for any needs that you have now or predict you might need in the future? Your input is very important!

Updates in the life our church:

This coming Sunday, Chris Fleming will be preaching and will also be preaching our Easter Sunday morning service on April 12th. Eric Wren will be preaching on Good Friday service April 10th at 7PM. All of these will be virtual services for you to view on hlbc.net where you will find the Hunsinger Lane Baptist Youtube channel.

Our prayer team recommended to our elders that we designate a specific date and time for prayer and fasting. Certainly amidst this virus crisis as well as we approach Easter Services and we won't be together. We know that praying and fasting is something that we're directed in Scripture to do. So we are asking you to consider a time of fasting and prayer from Thursday April 8th beginning at 7pm until Good Friday April 9th, ending at 7pm until the time of our Good Friday Service. If you can't practice this fast for the full period of this, please consider a time during those hours that you may be able to commit to this important time of corporate prayer.

Many of you view the church Facebook page. This is one way we can feel a community in this time of quarantine; so we are encouraging Life Groups to post pictures of their worship times together. We will also encourage families to consider post a brief one-minute view of how they are doing and letting us see the faces of your family members. We are going to ask a few couples in our church to post examples so please watch for those on the website.

We're planning a children's sermon time with Pastor Steve at 1PM on Sunday April 5th by Zoom teleconferencing. Please watch for a specific email or text providing you the link to that Zoom meeting which you can join with a smartphone or your computer. If you are having difficulty viewing our services online, please leave a voicemail on the church phone at 502-491-4356. You can also call, text, or email one of the elders. Email links for each elder is on hlbc.net/elders. Our cell numbers can be found on the Elexio church community directory.

And now a word about communion. The elders have discussed communion in the difficulty in trying to observe it virtually. We want to reserve the celebration of communion until we meet safely together. I'll look forward to sharing this important church ordinance as a family of believers when we gather again.

Please know that we are concerned for each one of you. If you are having difficulty or have needs, we want to know that. It's good to reach out to your life group members and leaders. But you can also contact the elders or reach out to one of our church deacons. Please do so however you are most comfortable and able to do so. But please reach out to others and each others.

Finally, let's be the church. The Apostle Paul writes in Colossians 3:12-17: 12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

  • Student classes on Sunday will plan to offer teachers the option of holding classes virtually using Zoom, an online meeting software

  • Sunday morning worship – We plan to pre-record the worship music and sermon which then will be streamed from hlbc.net. Please watch hlbc.net Church Communication for this link as well as other updates.

  • Home-based Life Groups – leaders may choose to meet virtually using Zoom, an online meeting software. Future Events -Easter egg hunt that was originally scheduled for April 11, will be cancelled at this point. COVID-19 Update

A message to Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church:

We are concerned about the safety relative to the coronavirus. Our plan is that Hunsinger's Got Talent (HGT) and service Sunday, March 15th will be live streamed on the Hunsinger Lane FaceBook page , but the sermon will also be available on hlbc.net under Sermons. We encourage you to do what is best for your family and your specific risk. Although services will be held and live-streamed, we support you tuning in, worshipping, singing, giving, or in other words, attending virtually or, if you determine as right for your family, attending in person.

How are we going to personally, “Bring God glory, through loving, learning, serving and reaching” at this time? Will Howlett will be preaching Acts 3 “and this man who was healed in the name of Jesus”…perhaps that man is your One, clearly a focus on “Who’s Your One?” If you attend virtually, how can you reach out either by phone, text or email to encourage others in our church family, in your life group. You, like me, probably have folks the Lord has put on your mind. We encourage you to pray and act accordingly. We, the church, can be especially important during this time.

With regard to giving: We currently have about 10% of the congregation giving electronically either through Hunsinger or through their online banking. Details are available on hlbc.net under “Give.”

We are taking as many precautions as we can. We will be announcing the following on Sunday morning:
-The need to meet together, it’s biblical, but need to be wise – perhaps virtual attendance is best for you.
-If you’ve been to an infected area, consider self-quarantine for 14 days.
-If you’re experiencing symptoms – specifically a fever, cough or shortness of breath, seek medical attention and please self-quarantine.
-Use healthy practices – hand sanitizers, “safe sneezing”, etc., use masks if preferred though we have found masks difficult to obtain.

We need to be concerned about those that are the most vulnerable – elderly or immune-system-compromised individuals. If you come to worship, know that we will be wiping down surfaces multiple times. We encourage smiling and waving, instead of hugging and shaking hands! For those attending in person, we will have a different communion process and be taking up offering in a more safe way. Staff and elders are monitoring information from CDC and social media.

“Let’s meet this challenge together in the best spirit of compassion for others. Seek truth, fact and knowledge as opposed to conjecture, speculation and catastrophizing. Facts not fear. Clean hands. Open hearts. Our children will thank us for it.” Posted by Dr. Alexander Roth

Hebrews 10: 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Philippians 2: 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Church Health Survey

We are using a survey tool with selected leaders and members as we wait on the Lord and prayerfully determine what we need in our next permanent pastor. Please look for a future email communication on this as we strive to seek God’s will for our church!

Next, hear Kip Selby provide a quick update on where we are in the search process in finding a new pastor.
